July 1 (Saturday) Canada Day Celebrations - Flag raising at 11 AM

September 1 (Saturday) Heritage Harvest Festival

Heritage Harvest Festival September 1, 2017
The 6th annual Heritage Harvest Festival, at the Seager Wheeler Farm, is slated for Saturday September 1, 2017 at 10 AM. Grain will be seeded in the spring and should be ready to cut with a binder in time for stooking and threshing.

Jake Doerksen, in charge of the bindering and threshing, has his equipment ready to go and, as in the past years, is looking for volunteers to do the stooking. This has become a lost art but remains a vivid memory of hard work by the older generation. Doerksen also has his 28" McCormick Deering threshing machine ready, powered by either an AR John Deere or John Deere D and will be joined by John Hein with his thresher powered by his 1927 Hart-Parr. It's always a good show!

Also needed are field pitchers, who load up the hay racks in the field, and spike pitchers, who put the bundles into the feeder of the threshing machine. We hope to have a team of horses to haul a hay rack to the machine.

It promises to be an interesting day - looking back to how grain threshing was done in the early twenties until the sixties when the combines took over.

Food Booth open all day.

Every Thursday Dessert Night - Starting July 6th - 7 PM to 9 PM
