Preserving the Past,
Inspiring the Future

Why We Do What We Do

Preserving The Past, Inspiring The Future

We believe that understanding our past is the key to appreciating our present. The Seager Wheeler Farm organization exists to protect, restore, and celebrate the incredible legacy of Dr. Seager Wheeler and the early prairie pioneers.

But our mission isn't just about maintaining historic buildings. We are dedicated to providing a welcoming, educational, and beautiful sanctuary where families can unplug, students can learn hands-on, and the community can gather to celebrate our shared Saskatchewan roots. Every project we undertake is focused on making your visit a memorable step back in time.

Mission

To demonstrate Seager Wheeler’s importance for prairie agriculture and settlement.

Vision

To keep Seager Wheeler’s philosophy of land use and community participation relevant for our time.

The People Tending the Farm

Seager Wheeler Farm is operated by volunteers, and summer students hired through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. The Board is made up of many long-time volunteers, some of whom were involved in the beginning of the Farm in the early 1990’s.

Our Funders

Rooted in Community Support

Maintaining a National Historic Site is a monumental task, and we don't do it alone. We are incredibly grateful for the generous funding, grants, and support from our community partners. Their contributions ensure that the gates stay open and the history of the "Wheat King" continues to be shared.

Seager Wheeler Farm appreciates the long-standing support of funding from all levels of government. During COVID-19 the generous support of the Federal Government through the CEBA program, as well as the Canada Summer Jobs Program, has been critical to our ability to continue to operate.
